Complete Guide to Managing iPads for Educators
Meraki (free) lets you centrally manage mobile devices, macs and PC’s from the cloud based dashboard. The systems manager makes it simple to centrally manage applications. It integrates with Google Play, Amazon Appstore, Apple App Store and Apple’s Volume Purchase Program. In addition to being able to manage apps, Meraki makes it easy to enforce and deploy restrictions on mobile devices. Choose how your students access the app store, gaming and content, how they connect wirelessly, security settings and remote VPN access. Meraki has a virtual backpack where content can be shared with devices. Files and documents can be added and sent wirelessly. Separate backpacks can be delivered to different classrooms so that the correct documents are shared with the students who need it. The cloud platform makes 1 to 1 projects and BYOD (bring your own device) roll outs manageable.
Classroom. helps teachers ‘guide students through a lesson, see their progress and keep them on track’. Classroom comes with a number of interesting features. For instance, you can use it to instantly launch apps, websites or even books on students' devices. You can also assign students to the shared iPads they have recently worked on and logged them off when they are done.
Classroom provides you with smarter monitoring features so you can control what students are doing on their iPads. You can lock students’ devices into a single app or lock their screens. You can also see what each student is doing on their iPad or even view all students screens at once. And, if you use Apple TV in class, Classroom allows you to display students' work to the whole class. Alternatively, you can use AirPlay to wireless project a student’s screen to the class. As for organizational features, Classroom enables you to arrange students devices into groups and break students into different groups. It ‘automatically creates groups of students based on the apps they are using’.
To use Classroom you need to have an iPad running iOS9.3 or later. Check out Classroom Guide to learn more about this app.

This means that instead of connecting your iPad to a laptop with a cord you can transfer images wirelessly. This also works with iPhones and can be set up to push images on your computer to one of your iOS devices.
Showbie Instead of collecting and handing back paper assignments or trying to keep track of student assignments in an email account, teachers can use Showbie. For each class teachers set up, they receive a code to give students. That code connects students with their teacher and allows them to submit assignments and receive feedback. Teachers can have students submit traditional word-processing or slideshow presentation files, or allow them to use one of the many apps that work in conjunction with Showbie. As soon as students submit work, it appears in the teacher's account; teachers can then write or type comments directly on the work or record voice comments.
